GYTA stranded armored cables are stranded with loose tubes. The fibers are placed in loose tubes filled with a waterproofing compound. A steel wire is located in the center of the cable as a metal strength member. Loose tube (and filler) is twisted around the strength member to form a compact round cable. Aluminum Polyethylene Laminate (APL) is applied around the cable core, then a PE jacket is applied as the outermost layer.
Optical cables can do up to 288 fibers.
